JUDGEMENT AWAITS
BLUE
AND RED
by
Anthony Andre Douglas
In a field of growing
headstones
lay young souls who
chose not to live
separated from Earth
even in death their bones
fill coffins like
their lives unable to give
as six feet under
the morning dew
awaiting judgement
already bled
one is buried in colors
of blue
the other is draped
in all red
now out the fog of
grief and sorrow
those left behind
forever go
with both arms full
of flowers
to cover the graves
of friend and foe
as six feet under
the morning dew
awaiting judgement
already bled
roses grow above the
blue
and so do roses adorn
the red
Both headstones weather
worn equally
with grave-grass stretching
to cover the names
both coffins sealed
shut for eternity
since cops and criminals,
ceased to be games
and six feet under
the morning dew
awaiting judgement
already bled
love mixed in tears
fall on the blue
as tears mixed in
love fall on the red
Yet we search and
find some reason
to hate and kill our
very own brothers
we are like Cain killing
Able
eachday of each season
over our own perversion
of God's basic colors
until six feet under
the morning dew
awaiting judgement
already bled
You lay holloweyed,
decaying in all blue
as Your Brother lay
holloweyed,
decaying in all red
