HEART OF A WARRIOR

by Anthony Andre Douglas

mistake not my soul is not gone
nor fled these remains in fear
for as you walk upon my bones
a Warrior's Heart still beats here
I remember the night you came
with hooded head in guilt-ridden robe
covering your grinning face of shame
in unbound hate to burn my abode
Yes! I know you all too well
time changes no cowards face
you who kidnaped my family to sell
four centuries ago this very day
and think not that you have won
atonement wakes from drowsy years
as bones decayed, dried without Sun
wait hollow-eyed, crying no tears
On you devilseed of Abaddon fire
watered by violence, fertilized in hate
by that very same serpent liar
of Eve's Apple and Adam's Fate
so know you this, my soul is not gone
and neither will it soon depart
for even now as you step on my bones
still beats here a Warrior's Heart
